Robert R. Willis is a Partner at Amaro | Baldwin, L.L.P., where he focuses his practice on general liability defense with an emphasis on personal and catastrophic injury, wrongful death, residential habitability and premises liability.

Prior to joining Amaro | Baldwin, Mr. Willis served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of California, where he represented multiple state agencies in complex, high-stakes business litigation involving substantial financial exposure and issues of significant legal precedent. In addition to his litigation work, he served in an advisory capacity, helping state agencies develop to implement a comprehensive indemnification strategy designed to mitigate liability and protect public resources.

Mr. Willis has a focused expertise in representing commercial property owners and landlords in a wide range of disputes, including breach of contract, warranty claims, habitability, toxic torts, and general injury defense. He also has specialized experience in defending fitness facilities and recreational service providers and has obtained numerous favorable published appellate decisions affirming the enforceability of liability waivers and release agreements.

Mr. Willis is experienced in all phases of civil litigation and has handled hundreds of mediations, countless depositions, numerous jury and bench trials, arbitrations, and appeals in both state and federal courts.

Mr. Willis earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University in 2004, where he was a four-year member of the varsity crew team. He received his J.D. from Western State University College of Law in 2008, graduating with multiple academic excellence awards. During law school, he also served as an editor of the Western State University Law Review.
